Data on the number of pensioners includes beneficiaries whose pensions are transferred abroad under bilateral agreements and beneficiaries who receive their pensions but actually are not part of the population with usual residence, thereby explaining why the proportion may exceed 100%.

Starting from 2023, the calculation uses the number of usual resident population estimated based on the results of the 2024 Population and Housing Census.

Indicator 1.3.1.a: Proportion of retirement-age persons who benefit from old age pension
Definition and concepts

The indicator measures the share of retirement-age persons benefiting from old age pensions in the total number of retirement-age persons, disaggregated by sex and age groups. The standard retirement age as of 1 July 2019 is 63 years old for men and 58 years and 6 months for women. It should be mentioned that the standard retirement age for women increase annually by 6 months and will account as of 2028 - 63 years old (Article 41, para. 1 of the Law on Public System of Pensions No.156 dated 14.10.1998, Article 14 of the Law on the Social Protection of Citizens Who Suffered as a Result of the Chernobyl Disaster).
