-The Green Economy Promotion Program in the Republic of Moldova for the period 2018-2020 approved by Government Decision no. 160/2018;

-The Waste Management Strategy in the Republic of Moldova for the years 2013-2027 approved by Government Decision no. 248/2013;

-The Low Emission Development Strategy of the Republic of Moldova until 2030 and the Action Plan for its implementation approved by Government Decision no. 1470/2016;

-The Energy Strategy of the Republic of Moldova until 2030 approved by Government Decision no. 102/2013;

-The National Strategy for Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova for the years 2022 - 2028 approved by Government Decision no. 40/2022;

-The National Program for the Implementation of the Protocol on Water and Health in the Republic of Moldova for the years 2016-2025 approved by Government Decision no. 1063/2016.

Definition and concepts

Green Economy is the economic development contributing to increasing people's wellbeing and increasing social fairness, while reducing significantly the negative impact on environment.

Sustainable Production and Consumption (SPC) - use of services and products related to them, which meet the basic needs and improve the quality of life, minimising the use of natural resources and toxic materials, as well as of waste and pollutants' emission during the life cycle of the service or product, so as not to endanger the consumption needs of the next generations

Policy tools for sustainable production and consumption: the policy tools refer to methodologies, measures or interventions, which are used for achieving these objectives. In case of SPC, such tools are developed and applied so as to reduce the environmental impact of consumption and production models, for the purpose of generating economic and/or social benefits.

Method of computation

This indicator is calculated at relevant aggregation levels based on the information collected from the National Focal Points and governmental institutions.
Comparability with global indicator

The national indicator represents a part of the global indicator which refers to the total number of countries where Sustainable Use is a priority in national policies and action plans
