Actions on developing and operationalizing policies, strategies, action plans on climate change adaptation and resilience, and greenhouse gas emission reductions

During the reporting period, measures to adapt to climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions were integrated into several national and sectoral strategic and public policy documents. These measures aim to increase the resilience of economic sectors, promote energy efficiency, develop sustainable transport and strengthen climate monitoring mechanisms.

The actions taken were reflected in the official documents submitted to the UNFCCC, including the 5th National Communication and the Biennial Transparency Report (BTR 1), Nationally Determined Contribution 3.0. The Nationally Determined Contribution was developed: 2015; 2020; 2025 The National Communication Report was prepared in 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022

Biennial Updated Report was developed in 2016, 2019, 2021, 2022,2024

At the end of 2023, the National Climate Change Adaptation Program until 2030 and its Action Plan for implementation (Government Decision No. 624/2023), as well as the Low Emission Development Program of the Republic of Moldova until 2030 (Government Decision No. 659/2023), were approved and are to be implemented.

Additionally, in 2024, the Environmental Strategy for 2024–2030 (Government Decision No. 409/2024) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy for the period 2024–2030 (Government Decision No. 804/2024) were also approved.
