Indicator 2.c.1: Indicator of food price anomalies (seasonal anomalies)
Definition and concepts

The indicator of food price anomalies (IFPA) measures the abnormally high prices of the market. IFPA is based on complex balanced growth rates which consider the price increase over the year, as well as over the entire year. The indicator assesses directly the price increase for a certain month for a number of years, considering the seasonal nature of the agricultural market and inflation, allowing us to answer the question if the price change is abnormal for a certain period.
