Neonatal mortality is part of infant mortality, which expresses the intensity of infant deaths during the first 28 days of birth.

Method of computation

Number of children aged 0-27 days since birth who have died during the current year, per 1000 born alive in the year of reference.

Data are based on registration of newly-born children with 550 gr weight and of 22 weeks of gestation
