Definition and concepts

Total alcohol consumption per capita (APC) is defined as the total amount (the sum of recorded alcohol consumption per capita averaged over three years and unrecorded alcohol consumption per person as a percentage of the total) of alcohol consumed by adults (15+ years) during the calendar year, in liters of pure alcohol, adjusted for tourist consumption.

Numerator: amount of consumed alcohol volume registered per person (15+ years old), in average in three calendar years, in litres of pure alcohol and volume of unregistered alcohol per person (15+ years old), during one calendar year, in litres of pure alcohol, adjusted for touristic consumption.

Denominator: Resident population aged 15+ years old for the same calendar year, UN perspectives of world population, average.
