According to WHO definitions, unintentional poisonings can be caused by household chemicals, pesticides, kerosene, carbon monoxide, and medicines, or may result from environmental contamination or occupational chemical exposure. This indicator reflects the level of proper management of hazardous chemicals, pollution control, and the effectiveness of a country’s health system. The International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision (ICD-10) codes corresponding to this indicator include X40, X43, X46–X48, and X49. |
