Definition and concepts

Gross enrolment ratio in the X level of education represents the total number of children/pupils/students enrolled in the respective level of education, regardless of age, as a share of the total population in the official age group corresponding to this level of education. Gross rate of school coverage at the education level X represents the total number of children/pupils/students covered by the respective education level, regardless of age, as a share of total population of the official group of age corresponding to this level of education.
