Definition and concepts

The indicator reflects the number of ATMs in the entire country for all types of financial institutions, such as: commercial banks and non-bank payment service providers. [The automated teller machine](https://www.bnm.md/bdi/pages/reports/dsp/DSP2.xhtml (internationally called – ATM) is meant for self-servicing of bankcards’ owners, allowing them to withdraw monetary means in cash from the payment accounts, transfers of monetary means, deposit of monetary means in accounts and information regarding the situation on accounts and operations performed through payment cards.

Number of ATM machines of commercial banks per 100 000 population aged 18 years old and over

Total number of ATMs will include: (a) number of ATMs of licensed banks (collected based on the reports of banks licensed by NBM) and (b) number of ATMs of organizations from non-banking financial sector (include payment companies and companies issuing electronic money.
